Trusting God’s Provision in Every Season

  • Ernest H. Benjamin

I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. — Psalm 37:25 (ESV)

Is God Really Going to Take Care of Me?

Have you ever stared at an unpaid bill, an empty fridge, or a life full of uncertainties and whispered, God, where are You?

Maybe you’ve asked yourself:

  • Will I have enough to make it through?

  • Does God see my struggle?

  • Why does it feel like others are thriving while I’m barely holding on?

Psalm 37:25 is a reminder that God’s faithfulness isn’t just a theory—it’s a proven reality.

King David, after a lifetime of battles, victories, and setbacks, looked back and made a powerful statement:

👉 God does not forsake the righteous. He provides. He sustains. He comes through.

But what does this mean for you right now, in a world of rising costs, job uncertainty, and personal struggles? Let’s dive in.

4 Life-Changing Truths from Psalm 37:25

1. God’s Faithfulness Stands the Test of Time

David didn’t just wake up one day and decide that God was faithful. He lived it. He had been young, he had grown old, and through every high and low, God never abandoned him.

🔹 Application: When life feels uncertain, look back. God’s past faithfulness is the greatest evidence of His future provision.

🔹 Example: Think about a time when you didn’t know how you would make it, but somehow, God provided. Maybe it was a financial breakthrough, unexpected kindness, or strength in a moment of weakness.

💡 Reflection Question: Can you remember a time when God made a way for you? How does that encourage you today?

2. God’s Provision May Not Look the Way You Expect

Psalm 37:25 doesn’t say that believers will never struggle—it says they won’t be forsaken. There’s a difference.

Sometimes, we expect God’s provision to come in one specific way—but He often provides in ways we never saw coming.

🔹 Application: Are you waiting for God to show up in a certain way, while missing the ways He’s already providing? Be open to unexpected answers, divine connections, and new opportunities.

🔹 Example: Maybe you prayed for financial relief, and instead of a lump sum of cash, God provided wisdom to manage your finances better. Maybe you prayed for a new job, and God opened the door to a side hustle or unexpected opportunity.

💡 Reflection Question: Are you only looking for God’s provision in one form, or are you open to His unexpected blessings?

3. Your Faithfulness Impacts Future Generations

David said, “I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.”

This speaks to legacy. God’s provision isn’t just about you—it extends to your children, your family, and those around you.

🔹 Application: How you trust God today will shape your legacy tomorrow. Show your children, family, and community what it looks like to rely on God, not just money.

🔹 Example: A parent who teaches their children about generosity, wise stewardship, and faith in God’s provision creates a cycle of blessing that outlives them.

💡 Reflection Question: What kind of faith legacy are you leaving for those who come after you?

4. Seek God First—Not Just Financial Security

The world tells us security is found in a bigger paycheck, a better job, or a well-padded savings account. But Psalm 37 reminds us that true security is found in God alone.

🔹 Application: Instead of chasing wealth, chase righteousness. Honor God with your finances, live generously, and trust that He will provide for your needs.

🔹 Example: The wealthiest people aren’t always the most secure. But those who trust in God, whether rich or poor, always have enough.

💡 Reflection Question: Are you placing your security in money or in the One who provides it?

How to Apply This Today

Look back at God’s faithfulness – Write down times He has provided for you and let it build your faith.

Pray and release control – Instead of worrying, give your needs to God and trust His timing.

Live generously – When you trust God’s provision, you can give without fear.

Teach the next generation – Show those around you that God—not money—is our true security.

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for being my provider. You have never forsaken me, and I trust that You never will. Help me to seek You first, live generously, and trust in Your perfect provision. Strengthen my faith, and let me be a testimony of Your goodness to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Final Thought: God Has Never Failed—And He Won’t Start Now

✔ God has provided before. He will provide again.
✔ You are not forsaken, and you never will be.
✔ Your faith today can bless future generations.

💡 Memorable Quote:

"God doesn’t promise a life without struggle, but He promises that the righteous will never be forsaken."
